A U.S. postal employee who worked at Louisville’s distribution plant has been sentenced for stealing gift cards from the mail.
49-year-old Fred Gaddie will serve two years probation and pay $125 in restitution.
Only two of his victims have been identified, but he’s believed to have stolen 10 to 12 cards a week for two years. Gaddie admitted to stealing the gift cards from letters and packages between July 2005 and July 2007.
So if I understand this story correctly, this guy made out like a bandit! Let’s do some simple math here; the man stole 10-12 cards a WEEK, for 2 years, that’s 104 weeks (2yrs x 52wks), and a grand total of anywhere from 1040 – 1248 gift cards. Let’s set the average value of these cards conservatively at $10-$20 a pop. Gaddie made bank of anywhere from $10,400 to $24,960.
And he only got 2yrs probation and paid $125 in restitution!!!??? Somewhere Newman is fumin’!!
