Free Donuts on National Doughnut Day!

Today is National Doughnut Day (woo-hoo!), and you can stop in most doughnut franchises and pick up a free circle of deliciousness. Read on to plan your sugar rush accordingly.

Krispy Kreme
The king of fund-raising is offering a free doughnut to every customer on June 5 with no purchase necessary!!! Try to snag one of the fried doughy treats strait off the conveyor belt. Not much beats a Krispy Kreme fresh off the belt…..

Dunkin’ Donuts
This old standby, and recent rival of Starbucks, is handing out free doughnuts of your choice with drink purchases. If you are a coffee drinker, the lovely ladies over at the Washingtonian recommend Dunkin’s double-brewed iced coffees. Add a pump of flavor—anything from toasted almond to blueberry—for an extra punch.

Also while researching this glorious day I stumbled upon an awesome fact: According to fridgemagnet, Louisville, Kentucky consumes more donuts per capita than people in any other U.S. city. Second is Cincinnati, OH and third is Roanoke, VA.
