1 Another Reason Why Beasts Are Awesome: Cat Survives Crossbow

Dave the tabby cat survived days with a crossbow arrow stuck through his chest. His owners and the police believe he was deliberately shot when he wandered away from home June 2. The 11-month-old kitten was missing for a week before he returned with an arrow entering through his neck and exiting by his left elbow.

The arrow narrowly missed Dave’s heart and lungs. The blunt tip pushed his organs aside rather than puncturing them. An X-ray showed the arrow running straight through the cat’s thoracic cavity. A veterinarian removed the arrow and treated Dave with strong antibiotics to fight infection from the injury.
