Game 39 Recap: Cardinals 3, Cubs 1

This will be brief, but the theme of this is the Cubs are atrocious at the moment. They rolled into St. Louis after a solid 4-1 homestand and proceeded to look like a weak version the Peoria Chiefs. The Cubs were thoroughly dominated by the St. Louis pitching staff and put together some of the worst at bats as a team I can remember.
Albert Pujols got things going with a monster solo YAK EM!!! to left off starter Sean Marshall to take a 1-0 lead in the 1st. That upset me as a Cubs fan, but excited me as a normal human since I have Fat Albert on my fantasy squad. I was then upset again because I remembered I have Sean Marshall as well. Thanks to a Ryan Freel throwing error, the Cardinals put another run on the board in the 3rd.
Brian Barden delivered a solo YAK EM!!! in the 4th to widen their lead to 3-0. The lone Cubs run came on a RBI single by Kosuke Fukudome scoring Bobby Scales. The Cubs never really threatened again and quietly were swept out of St. Louis. These three games were pathetic to watch and illustrated quite well the need for Aramis Ramirez in the Cubs lineup. The Cubs, now 21-18, will travel to San Diego where they will see the return of Carlos Zambrano.
