Christmas Free Throws His Way To Double-Double; Owls Down Spiders

By: Carl H | January 31st, 2009 | Category: Sports

Straitpinkie.com candidate for Naismith POY Dionte Christmas had a bad night from the floor. Floyd shot just 2-12 (including 0-6 from threeland); however, Floyd was money from the charity stripe, connecting on 13-14 to give him 17 points to go along with his career-high 13 rebounds and 3 assists to help the Owls move to 12-8 (4-2 A-10) with a 74-65 win over Richmond. The score was 16-13 at halftime, but Temple responded with a 58 point second half and placed five players in double figures scoring, led by Semaj Inge’s 19. By: Carl H | January 29th, 2009 | Category: Sports

Temple Destroys Charlotte, 80-53

By: Carl H | January 24th, 2009 | Category: Sports

Dionte Christmas took the floor earlier today looking like Antonio Margarito after his fight with Sugar Shane Mosley tonight.  Stitches under his left eye, Floyd’s shooting touch was a little off.  Christmas shot only 4 of 12 (2 of 7 from beyond the arc) and 2 of 3 from the line, good for 12 points to go with 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.  However, a balanced attack that saw four Owls score in double figures, led by Semaj Inge’s 19, allowed Temple to cruise to an 80-53 victory at the Liacouras Center.  LaVoy Allen had a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards.  Temple now sits at 11-7 (3-1 A-10).

Former Temple coach John Chaney and longtime team doctor Ray Moyer were honored at halftime. Both were inducted into the Temple Athletics Hall of Fame in an afternoon ceremony. Chaney had 516 wins and 17 NCAA tournament appearances in 24 years with the Owls.

Billikens Draw Blood on Christmas; Still Get Trounced by Temple

By: Carl H | January 22nd, 2009 | Category: Sports

Apparently St. Louis decided the only way they would have a chance to come back from an already insurmountable lead was to try and take out straitpinkie.com Player of the Year candidate Dionte Christmas.  With 13:17 remaining and the Billikens trailing by a bunch, a Billiken nailed Floyd and opened up a cut just over his left eye.  Christmas was 4 of 10 for 8 points, 7 boards, 5 assists and 3 steals before leaving, filling out the stat sheet.  LaVoy Allen picked up the slack and helped Temple maintain their lead, cruising to a 65-40 victory that gives them 10 wins on the season against 7 losses (2-1 in the A-10).  It could also be possible St. Louis was paid off by another team in the A-10, cuz forget stopping, we all know come March, no one will be able to even contain Fa-Fa-Fa-FLOYD CHHHRISTMAS!!!!
