This should be interesting.
Just got an e-mail from a friend, who reports that former UK basketball coach Billy Gillispie is working on a book with a friend of mine, Steve Richardson, a retired sportswriter in Dallas.
The book is titled, “The Billy Gillispie Story,” and will explore his coaching career. Not sure how deeply it will dig into his unsuccessful two-season stay at Kentucky. But I’m sure the folks at UK are already wondering about that, especially as the legal saga between the coach and the school continues.
The press release I received today said they have been working on the project for three years and just reached a formal agreement to proceed.

Oh the audacity of Billy G. Who commissions a book about themselves in their first 5 seasons as a head basketball coach when they have never even made it past the Sweet 16? I’m torn on this really. On one hand I’m morbidly curious, on the other I don’t want Gillispie to profit one more cent off of Kentucky fans.
