Rob Bironas gets Vanderjacked
The week’s first game also brought the most lasting performance by a kicker. Thursday Night’s victory by the Titans was by the foot of Louisville native Rob Bironas.
The Steelers had the victory well in hand until Matt Hasselbeck tossed a game tying touchdown to Kenny Britt with just over 4 minutes left. After Shaun Suisham missed a field goal for the Steelers, the Titans got within field goal range for Bironas. He finished off Roethlisberger and Pittsburgh with a smooth 40 yard field goal. It was the 4th field goal on the day for the Titan kicker, which included a 47 yarder earlier in the game.
Bironas is a career 86% field goal kicker and a former pro bowler. The Titans are in for a tough season but if they find success it will be behind the big boot of their kicker. The former Trinity Shamrock has kicked a career long of 60 yards and holds the record with most field goals in a game of 8. Straitpinkie loves Louisville and kickers and what better thing than a beastly boot from the Ville!
