Peyton Manning’s injury claims another
Peyton Manning’s neck has taken down another Colt. This time it was Jim Caldwell. The firing falls on the heels of Jim Irsay replacing GM Bill Polian with Ryan Grigson.
Caldwell’s tenure lasted 3 years which included an AFC championship, but will always be remembered for his 2-14 season after the loss of just one player. The firings of Polian and Caldwell should not be a surprise considering the team lost one player and was destroyed. It would have been acceptable outcome to go 5-11 or 6-10, but to win only two games showed the personnel pool was way out of whack.
Caldwell seems like a nice guy and I am sure he will end up on the sideline as a coordinator at some point, but how could the Colts allow this to happen to their team? Jim Irsay has the ability to rework his team with a young GM and Andrew Luck, but will he learn that he needs much more than a quarterback? And maybe his next coach already works for him?

There are no Colts without Dungy and now Manning. So who cares who ends up coaching?
Several compliments on your column around the dominoe table yesterday.
