Now that the Pro Bowl is played before the Super Bowl some of the players can’t make the Pro Bowl since they will be playing in the Super Bowl. Still others bow out of the Pro Bowl because of an injury or they came up just short in the playoffs that they are done with football for the season.
Sometimes one man’s loss is another man’s gain. For two rookie quarterbacks they are now headed to the Pro Bowl due to the fact that a couple of quarterbacks Tom Brady and Matt Ryan are no longer playing in that game.
Reports out of New England say Tom Brady is injured and can’t make the Pro Bowl. Also Patriots Vince Wilfork, Wes Welker, and Logan Mankins are skipping the Pro Bowl due to injury as well.
Brady will be replaced by Andrew Luck. Andrew Luck helped the Colts with a 11-5 regular-season record and a wild-card playoff berth as a rookie. Luck had a great rookie year and set a few rookie passing records, including most passing yards with 4,374, most attempts with 627 and most 300-yard passing games with six. His favorite target Reggie Wayne will also be at the Pro Bowl.
During the NFC Championship game between the Falcons and 49ers, Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan suffered a sprained left shoulder injury in the 4th quarter. Ryan got injured when 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks took him down. With Ryan out of the Pro Bowl Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will take his place.
Just like Luck, Wilson had great rookie year. Wilson threw for 3,118 yards and with his 26 passing touchdowns he tied the NFL rookie record. Russell will now join his fellow Seahawks teammates Max Unger, Russell Okung, Marshawn Lynch, Earl Thomas, and Leon Washington In Hawaii.
Since the Ravens are in the Super Bowl, Jacoby Jones will now miss the Pro Bowl and Cleveland Browns Josh Cribbs will take his place. This will be Josh’s third Pro Bowl appearance.
