2011 NBA Fantasy Basketball Sleepers

With free agency still waiting to unfold some more players could burst out as possible sleeper candidates. Here is a list of players who have the potential to break out and become fantasy studs.

Greg Monroe DET PF/C 9.4 PTS 7.5 REB 1.3 AST 1.2 STL 0.6 BLK (2010 Stats)

With Detroit committing to a youth movement in the second half of season Monroe started to produce like an elite center. Expect this trend to continue from the start.

George Hill IND PG/SG 11.6 PTS 1.0 3PM 2.6 REB 2.5 AST

When given the chance to start in San Antonio, Hill managed to put up solid fantasy numbers. But. he was stuck backing up Manu Ginobli and Tony Parker so we didn’t see the full dividends. With Hill getting traded to Indiana he no longer has that worry.

Nicolas Batum POR SF 12.4 PTS 1.5 3PM 4.5 REB 1.5 AST

With Brandon Roy looking to be a probable amnesty candidate and Greg Oden possibly not coming back as well, Portland will have to find someone to step up. Batum should be one candidate to do just that.

Ricky Rubio MIN PG Rookie stats not available*

Rubio’s slow transition into the NBA might work out well. With Kevin Love, Michael Beasley, and Derrick Williams as players to distribute the ball to, Rubio should be available to rack up a load of assists.

Omir Casspi CLE SG/SF 8.6 PTS 1.3 3PM 4.3 REB 1.0 AST

Casspi goes from being one of many shooting guard/small forwards to being the guy in Cleveland. This should give him the minutes to produce solid points, three pointers, and rebounds.

Caron Butler Free Agent SF 15.0 PTS 4.1 REB 1.6 AST 1.0 STL

Depending on where Butler lands should determine his value. He has a good chance to land in someone’s starting lineup and therefore should produce solid numbers across the board.

O.J. Mayo MEM SG 11.3 PTS 1.4 3PM 2.4 REB 2.0 AST 1.0 STL

I’m banking on Mayo returning to his rookie form. If he is moved out of Memphis, I really expect him to regain his scoring prominence that made him a fantasy stud.

Nick Young Free Agent 17.4 PTS 1.6 3PM 2.7 REB 1.2 AST

Young’s ability to score makes him a valuable commodity. If he lands back in Washington, he’s a dud. If not, he should get the chance to start and knock down plenty of threes.
