College Football Predicts: Week 1

The 2009 college football season has arrived!

Set to get things started with a bang in Week 1 is tonight’s battle on the Smurf Turf in Boise, Idaho. The 16th ranked Ducks of Oregon travel to Bronco Stadium to take on the 14th ranked, and defending Straitpinkie.com National Champeen, Boise State Broncos.

Chip Kelly makes his head coaching debut after coordinating the Ducks high-powered offense for the last two seasons. Boise State has won 49 consecutive regular season games at Bronco Stadium. Their last loss at home was on Dec. 28, 2005, to Boston College in the Humanitarian Bowl, and their last regular season loss was way back on Sept 8, 2001 against Washington State.

The Ducks will also be seeking revenge for last year’s stunner, when the Broncos went into Eugene, built a 37-13 lead, and held on to defeat Oregon 37-32.

Each week the Pinkie staff, along with Local Yumps Leah and Katie, will be prognosticating the winners of the UK/UL games as well as the other marquis matchups throughout the nation.  At the end of the year we will determine who is the best prognosticator of the group and also find out who knows more about college football, us chumps or them yumps.

Below are our Week 1 picks.
