It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!!!

Since our last post on Floyd immediately followed his lights-out second half against the Volunteers (check out the highlights of Floyd lightin’ up the Vols below), we bring you quickly up to date on his season numbers, and his squad’s current ranking. Temple moved into 10th in the latest RPI standings and currently sport the second hardest schedule in all of college basketball (2nd only to Chattanooga!! Whose sched looks like this: @Tenn, @Mizzou, @Memphis, USC, @Fairfield, and @Davidson…. wow, impressive).  Gonzaga holds the # 1 spot currently, with the Cats comin’ in at 64th, and the Cards 72nd.

Floyd was named ESPN.com’s National Player of the Week for the week ending December 13 as well as Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Player of the Week. It is the ninth A-10 Player of the Week honor of his career, the most ever by a Temple player and tying him with Marcus Camby (UMass, 1994-96) for third most in league history.

Remember Dionte is trying to become the first player to ever lead the A-10 in scoring for three consecutive years. With his 35 on last Saturday, Christmas moved past Bill Mlkvy (1,539 points, 1949-52) and John Baum (1,544, 1966-69) and is currently at 1,549 points to rank 12th all-time in Temple history.

Floyd will again be on the national stage as Temple travels to Allen Fieldhouse this Saturday to take on the defending National Champion Jayhawks at 2:30pm EST on ESPN2….
