Emory and Henry College is in Emory, Virginia…

And our mascot used to be the Whitetoppers (a mountain)
We have a history of baffling mascots.

They changed it to the Wasps after our team won a game in the 50′s against a previously undefeated team. In an article, the reporter said that the loss ‘stung the other team like a wasp” and the school thought it was sufficient reason to change it.
(I’m happy they did, but the fighting wasps if kind of lame too.)

Good play Panama. Not sure which is more amazing, the fact there once was a real life human named Ichabod, or that a school would chose to name themselves the Ichabods in his honor…. uncouth. I vote for Washburn Wooly Monkeys!!
