In the 129th Run for the Roses, Funny Cide, at 12-1, hangs on to win the Kentucky Derby.

2004 Kentucky Derby – Smarty Jones

Smarty Jones wins the 130th Kentucky Derby on one of the sloppiest tracks in history. He becomes the first undefeated horse to win the Derby since Seattle Slew in 1977. Stewart Elliot also wins his first Derby at the age of 39. The poor track conditions make this the slowest Kentucky Derby (1:04.06) since 1958 when Tim Tam won in 2:05.00.

2005 Kentucky Derby – Giacomo

Giacomo comes from the back of the pack to win the 131st Kentucky Derby in a three-way photo finish with Closing Argument and Afleet Alex.

Not sure that you statement under 2001 Manarchos is correct, Sham actually ran the derby in 1973 (second to secretariat) in a 1:59.90. Monarchos would be the third.

A motivating discussion is worth comment. I do think that you need to publish more on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but usually folks don’t speak about these topics. To the next! Kind regards!!
