High School District Results

Luckilly for the state of Kentucky that fiasco in Columbia wasn’t the only hoops action last night.  Below are some recaps, scores and schedules for the 2009 Kentucky High School Boys District Tournaments, courtesy of our friends at the C-J.  The Pinkie just likes to clean it up a bit.

Last Night’s Local Scores

21st at Pleasure Ridge Park
Pleasure Ridge Park 75, Holy Cross 48

Brandon Schoenoff scored 18 points and Jamal Stephenson grabbed 23 rebounds and blocked seven shots as the Panthers (21-7) blitzed the Cougars (12-19) in the 21st District semifinals at PRP.
22nd at Doss
Iroquois 60, Butler 39
The Raiders (18-7) won their ninth straight to advance to tomorrow night’s 22nd District final against host Doss. Antonio Bryant led the way with 20 points for Iroquois against Butler (9-17).
27th at Waggener
Ballard 104, Waggener 65
Wesley Cox (18 points, including the 1,000th of his career), Ian Chiles (16) and Keisten Jones (15) all had big nights for No. 6 Ballard (23-6), which hit 12 of 22 three-point tries and had 15 players enter the scoring column. But the key was limiting Waggener senior guard Dayvon Sloan, who entered the game averaging 25.3 points but had just 13 last night while plagued with foul trouble.
Trinity 66, Seneca 52
Kevin Shaw’s three-pointer pulled the Redhawks within 55-51 with 2:15 left, but the Shamrocks sank 5 of 6 free throws down the stretch to maintain control. It was sweet revenge for Sewell, who played sparingly in Trinity’s 58-50 loss to Seneca in last year’s district semifinals. McElwain scored 13 points to lead Seneca, which will return nine of its top 10 players next season.
28th at Eastern
Jeffersontown 79, Kentucky Country Day 37

Jeffersontown (24-4) won its sixth straight behind Thomas Jackson’s 13 points. Domonique Smith and Jordan Reves scored 12 each. Jack Heyburn’s 15 points led the Bearcats (10-16).
Eastern 64, Christian Academy 49
The Eagles (27-1) won their 13th straight and will try to avenge their only loss of the season in the district final. Jeffersontown beat visiting Eastern 80-65 on Jan. 9. Delquan Thomas’ 14 points led Eastern last night. Tim Henderson had 13 for CAL (12-16).
