Greg Paulus Is Such A Punk!

Last night Duke defeated the Blue Hose of Presbyterian 80-49 in the opening game of the 2K Sports Classic. However, the story of the game wasn’t the score, it was Greg Paulus. And it wasn’t Paulus’ line that caught everyone’s eye, he scored five points and had two assists in 22 minutes. It was the play below where Paulus shifted drastically to his left, drew contact and went to the line for three. Yeah, everyone does it to a certain extent and it pisses me off when they get away with it. But, it seems as if Paulus is going out of his way to hurt the defender just because he is pissed that Nolan Smith is getting all of his minutes.
I dont even know where to start on this. It is the most absurd, ludicrous, ridiculous, nonsensical, preposterous, illogical, farcical, foolish and bizarre phenomenon in the sport Jimmy Naismith invented. I have only seen one or two raferees with the nuts to call this what it is: AN OFFENSIVE FOUL! The only other calls in sports I can come up with that get me this worked up is the opposite of this call, or the defensive ‘flop.’ and the swinging third strike/wild pitch in baseball where a batter is often rewarded by looking like an idiot and swinging at a pitch that bounces 50 feet in front of the plate. Anyhow, about the lean in, again, ITS AN OFFENSIVE FOUL!
Rule 10 Article 7 of the NCAA Basketball Rules and Interpretations states “Art. 7. Contact caused by a defensive player approaching the player with the ball from behind is pushing; contact caused by the momentum of a player who has tried for goal is charging.”
SOOOOOO when the contact is caused by the momentum of the player who has tried for goal (offensive player), the call is charging???? SOOOOOO when the shooter jumps INTO the defender, thus initiating contact by his own momentum, the call is charging???? Apparently not. This call honestly has made me question my desire to watch some games. I can’t take it.
And this is why we all despise the Pukies! I gotta go eat some TUMS…I’m all riled up now!!!

I remember in last year’s NBA Playoffs they called an offensive foul on Paul Pierce for this exact thing. At first I was like “what kind of call is that?!?!” just because I was so accustomed to not seeing that called, but the more I saw it and thought about, the more I thought, “thank you ref for making a heads up call”.
As good of a point as this post makes about this call, a much more important point is made: how big of a TOOL that little rodent Greg Paulus is. There is a post upcoming this evening including Greg Paulus as well.
straitpinkie is run by a bunch of PUNKS!!
