On Paper, Upset Potential, Don’t Bother (Championship Edition)
#2 Alabama vs. #1LSU
This is the game the Southeast of America has been waiting for and anyone else who is honest about wanting the best two teams to play for the National Championship. Last game saw a very strong performance by Trent Richardson (89 rush yds, 80 rec. yds) but the team could not capitalize. The nation watched a 9-6 OT Tigers victory that drew the second largest regular season college football tv audience in CBS’ history with 18 million viewers (1989 Miami vs. Notre Dame is #1). The Tigers are susceptible to fast offenses that spread the field (WVU, Oregon) but those teams defenses could not handle the LSU offense. Alabama has the defense to stop LSU but they don’t have the offense to spread out that defense. It will again be low scoring game, unlike the fireworks we were treated too by some of the other bowls, but just like a great pitching duel it’s still going to be exciting. I expect the Crimson Tide to try make a few more field goals this time around. Every week with the VanderJacked Award, I bring attention to the most vital player in a close game, the kicker, and this championship game like the first meeting will be no difference.

Upset Potential
BCS Championship Game
Just like the last game, you had people complaining about the 9-6 alley fight. For people who understand sports, a defensive struggle can be just as impressive as any high scoring offensive showing. Think about it, LSU averaged 38.5 pts a game and Bama 36 but their defenses were able to hold each other to 9 and 6 respectively. No matter the score or who wins, people will complain about the offenses not being that good or that it was a rematch. Until we have playoffs we will continue to have disagreements about who “deserves” to be in the game. Yet, this year the computers got it right by allowing for this rematch. So if anyone complains, tell them to write their Senator HERE because the more they are worried about college football the less they than can continue to ruin our country!
Don’t Bother
Rematch Haters
Listen if they don’t like the rematch before the game, they won’t like it afterwards. So Don’t Bother! No matter what you say or the outcome of the game they will not change their stance. If LSU wins, they will say, “We have already seen this game” and if Alabama wins they will say their team deserved that opportunity! If they start in on their argument just go Honey Badger and tell them you don’t care
