College Football Week 8: Gators love chicken, Optimus Klein, and Erin Andrews
On Paper
#9 South Carolina vs. #3 Florida
3:30 PM CBS
South Carolina is coming off it’s first loss of the season after traveling to Death Valley, the real one ACC fans. So, it can’t get worse can it? Well, up next they travel to the Swamp to face an undefeated Florida Gators. The Gamecocks have an impressive defense but if they can’t score against some of football’s best defenses then they have no shot to climb back in to the national championship discussion. Even worse, if they lose this week they probably won’t even win the SEC East! Florida is loved by the computers, and if they can get by the Gamecocks maybe they will move ahead of Alabama in the BCS. The running attack of Florida has been a force with RB Mike Gillislee and QB Jeff Driskell. If they can repeat the performance by LSU back Jeremy Hill (124yds 2 tDS) on the ground then they could have the upper hand in the this matchup. Home field is huge and UF is giving up 3.5 on what will be a great afternoon matchup. The uncertainty of Marcus Latimore playing makes it hard to pick the ‘Ol Ball Coach against his former team. If he plays USC can win, if he doesn’t they have no shot.

Upset Potential
#4 Kansas State vs #17 West Virginia
7 pm on Fox
This is a huge game for both teams. WVU is looking to bounce back after their no show against Texas Tech last week and KState is looking to continue to prove they are for real. The Over Under is 72, but I’m not sure if that is just for one team. “Optimus” Klein will score early and often but it will up to Geno Smith to determine if the ‘Neers return to their scoring fury. Smith’s accuracy numbers last week were awful as he threw 55 times and only connected on 29 with 1td. If Dana Holgorsen, and his weird hair, want to stay in the race for the Big12 Championship they will need a win today. They have a rough 4 weeks on the docket with KState, TCU, Ok. State, and Oklahoma in consecutive week but 3 are in Morgantown. The Wildcats have won some tough games on the road with slim victories over Oklahoma and a cagey Iowa State. This could be the slip up for Kstate and Value City is probably stocking up on sofas.

Don’t Bother
Erin Andrews
Since Erin Andrews move to Fox, it’s as if she doesn’t exist. She is on a pre-game show, during the middle of other games, that no one is watching. It’s hard for her brand to grow if people don’t see her. Unless she becomes a standard on the NFL broadcasts, i’m afraid she is only 2 or 3 years from becoming a WNBA sideline reporter….and what the heck is wrong with Joey Harrington’s eyes?

Joey is performing what is known as the squint and check. By pretending to squint at the camera he can check out Ms. Andrews with his beedy eyes.
