College Football Week 6: On Paper, Upset Potential, Don’t Bother
On Paper
#5 Georgia vs. #6 South Carolina
ESPN 7 PM EST
The SEC East is looking for renewal of the Florida beast mode days just a few years ago. They have played in the shadow of the West for the last few years and Alabama may still be the best team but is the East back to being the best conference? The Bulldogs roll into South Carolina ready to make some news. All SEC Candidate Aaron Murray leads his team into this match up but unlike the last few years he has serious help in the backfield. “Gurshall”, Toddy Gurley and Keith Marshall, have been dominating on the ground. Through 5 games Gurley has 9 TD’s with 536 yds and Marshall has chipped in 5 TD’s with 428 yds. Yet, they are playing on of the best rush defenses in the nation with the Gamecocks only giving up 77yds a game. The Ol’ Ball Coach will have plenty for his Georgia rival with his own top class RB Marcus Latimore. The Bulldogs are giving up over 140 yds a game on the ground and could be in for a long day against SC. Connor Shaw has recovered from his shoulder issue and will rely heavily on the run game and even his own two legs. The Gamecocks have won 11 consecutive games in the East and this game sets up for another big victory if Latimore can brush off the Bulldogs defense.

Upset Potential
#4 LSU vs. #10 Florida
CBS at 3:30PM
If the SEC East is ready to show it’s back, this game is the perfect opportunity. The Gators offense is stil an big issue. The Passing attack ranks 110th in the nation, which believe it or not, is worse than the Tigers (95th)! Mitch Muschamp is looking to prove himself after last years Charlie Weiss inspired turd. The teams actually mirror each other extremely well in major categories. The defenses are 9th and 10th in Points Against with 12.6 (LSU) and 12.8 (UF). The Rushing attacks are 18th (LSU 229.6) and 20th (UF 224.5) respectively. This will be a defensive slobber knocker. My guy Les Miles loves these games. Games that no one knows what is going to happen is exactly when he shows up and proves to us why he is a winner. I expect the defenses and kickers to score more points than either offense. LSU is a 2.5 favorite in the Swamp against a top 10 defense, and you know Vegas is pretty smart! I don’t know if either team will score out of single digits.

Don’t Bother
#21 Nebraska vs. #12 Ohio State
It doesn’t matter…Ohio State doesn’t count and every victory against a Big1G team hurts its chances this year. It’s not Urban Meyer’s fault and the Buckeyes will be dominant in a routinely underperforming conference. Yet, Every loss by what is perceived as a top Big1G team hurts it’s stock in the national debate.
