College Football Week 4: On Paper, Upset Potential, Don’t Bother
On Paper
#18 Michigan vs #11 Notre Dame - Saturday at 7:30 on NBC
This is a matchup that is always worth watching, even in the recent past when these teams were not relevant. This time it feels different. Brady Hoke has brought life back to the Wolverines after RichRod left town. This team may not be have been good enough to compete against the best in the nation (Alabama) but they have the weapons to be the best in the Big10. DeNard Robinson is an exciting player that can cause damage if the Irish are not able to contain him in the pocket. The Irish on the other hand has already beaten one of the best in the Big10 and looks to take on one of it’s oldest rivals. Brian Kelly is known for his offensive prowess but after only giving up 3 pts last week to Michigan St. he has really helped to create a team that seems just a little tougher on the defensive side of the ball. Of course, Manti Te’o has helped a little! If Notre Dame is for real, look for them to win this game by stifling Robinson and forcing him to throw.
Upset Potential
#15 Kansas St. vs #6 Oklahoma - Saturday at 7:50 on FOX
This is a big game in the Big12 and on the national stage. The Wildcats are 3-0 with their biggest win coming over a Miami team that is but a shell of it’s past self. Collin “Optimus” Klein has led the attack not just on the ground but through the air. He has thrown for over 600 yds and 5 tds and has rushed for 210 yds and 4tds. If KState wants to pull off the upset he is going to be the biggest reason on the offensive side. The Sooners are 2-0 and hosting KState is their first test of the season. This is their chance to show that they are back and ready to challenge for a chance to make the BCS championship game. Landry Jones has done what has been asked of him to start the season, but now he will be asked to win the game. The running game has been solid with Damien Williams averaging nearly 13 yds a carry along with finding the end zone 5 times. Of course, the best part of this game may be the pregame show on Fox with Erin Andrews!
I can see the Wildcats going in and pushing the Sooners and they may push enough to pull off the upset. Look out in Norman because Optimus Klein is coming!

Don’t Bother
#10 Clemson vs. #4 Florida State - Saturday at 8pm on ABC
ESPN/ABC is pushing this game as the ACC is showing off it’s chops but that is nothing but the network trying to create buzz about what has been the worst BCS conference in BCS Bowls. The game should be a good one and Florida State is ready to prove that it has finally returned to what was one of the most dominant programs in the 90′s. Clemson is looking to…well, they can’t prove anything until the last 3 or 4 games where they can finally finish a good start. None the less, neither of these teams will play a vital role in the National Championship and there is a reason Notre Dame jumped at the chance to add 5 ACC teams to their football schedule!
