25th Anniversary of “Send it in Jerome!”

25 years ago today, Bill Rafftery made one of the most famous calls in college sports history. Providence was on the road against the Pittsburgh Panthers, and Jerome Lane took off and soared over the rim. Lane emphatically slammed the ball through the hoop, smashing the glass behind it. After the other announcers could only say “Wow!”, Rafftery comes in a few seconds later with the now famous “Send it in Jerome!”.

It’s a little known fact that current UK head coach, John Calipari, was an assistant coach on the staff at Pitt during this game. Enjoy the video below that shows the famous dunk and call during a game in 2011.
