Top forward Tobias Harris to visit Lexington today

By: Guy | August 5th, 2009 | Category: Cats

Tobias Harris has been one of the hottest names of the summer. He was a top 30 level player (#29 according to Scout) before the rash of AAU tournaments across the country, but with how much his name has gotten out there due to his play, you have to figure the 6-7 rising senior will be moving up.

On Monday, ZagsBlog reported that Harris would cut his list at the end of August and said the following about his current list:

Harris out of Dix Hills (N.Y.) Half Hollow Hills West has a long list that includes Tennessee, UConn, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Maryland, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, Rutgers, St. John’s, Virginia, Louisville and West Virginia.

“Memphis, Kentucky, Florida and UCLA are trying to get involved. We have not decided at this point to explore these schools,” Torrel (Tobias’ father) said.

Today, good news for UK came out, as word spread that the Harris family would be visiting Lexington (link via Dustin Rumbaugh of Kentucky Sports Radio) to see the UK facilities and meet with the staff.  This has to be good news for UK in its quest to make Harris final list.

Harris, like fellow UK target Doron Lamb, is a New Yorker (Long Island specifically), so you have to think that Orlando Antigua will be a fixture in his recruitment. Harris officially got a UK offer 2 weeks ago, so UK is really trying to get involved.

I would love for UK to get this kid and, besides, how great would it be to have a UK player named Tobias?

The potential comedy of a Blue Man Group or Never Nudes in the student section is endless

  1. [...] Tobias Harris was just on campus today, but UK has been a bit of late comer to his recruitment. It will be interesting to see if UK makes his next list cut and gets an official visit from Harris, who has exploded this summer. On the other hand, former UK commit Dominique Ferguson has struggled a bit this summer and I don’t see the staff going hard after him. [...]
