Last Friday, Rivals.com tabbed John Calipari’s first recruiting class at UK number 1 in the land. A week later, Scout.com has followed suit.
Even though UK still has Scout’s number 2 player, John Wall, in it’s sights, John Calipari has pieced together Kentucky’s best recruiting class since the class of Rajon Rondo, Joe Crawford, Randolph Morris, and Ramel Bradley in 2004 in only 45 days. I’ve said it before, but UK’s class could be otherworldly if Wall joins DeMarcus Cousins, Daniel Orton, Eric Bledsoe, Jon Hood, and Darnell Dodson. Here’s what Evan Daniels had to day about UK’s haul:
Cal put on his rally cap, twittered a bunch of recruits and landed on a goldmine in LexVegas
Also, in spite of all the nonsense surrounding Rick Pitino and UofL, the Cardinals check in at number 20:
Louisville has pretty much become a constant on this list and guess what? They win a lot of games
Also on the subject of John Wall (because I can’t help but talk about him in EVERY post at this point), I want to say that no news is good news, but honestly, no news is no news and that’s it. After much buzz yesterday about big news forthcoming, nothing has broken yet and there’s no sign it will this weekend either.
Matt Jones did just tweet that he has a source that tells him Wall will decide by Wednesday, but I think we’re all guessing at this point, no matter who your sources are. My advice is to sit back and hope for the best, but to do so knowing that UK is in good shape regardless.

That’s the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation via the University of Memphis. Calipari’s name is dirt here. You couldn’t give away $1000 dollar bills if his name were on them, unless of course they were used to help Tim Floyd recover the cost of signing O.J. Mayo.
Be happy with your class, but you would never have signed those players without Calipari. I’m not a Memphis fan but he decimated this program. I hope UK loses every game they play next season and he gets fired.
Memphis has gotten a raw deal but you cannot begrudge UK for making the best hire available. Pastner is young but he will succeed. Also, you can’t separate schools and coaches when it comes to recruiting. As for your OJ Mayo mention, I resent the implication you are making.
