This is a weekly recruiting rundown for both the Louisville Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats.
Louisville:
- 2010 point guard Elisha Justice from Shelby Valley High School has committed to the Louisville Cardinals as a preferred walk-on. U of L head coach Rick Pitino and assistants Ralph Willard and Steve Masiello visited Shelby Valley for practice on Wednesday. The next morning, Justice gave his commitment.
- 2010 forward J.J. Moore had a “great time” on his visit to Louisville, but he said this week that he is not ready to make a commitment yet. He plans to finish out his visits with St. John’s next weekend and Pittsburgh on November 6. Moore did note that Rick Pitino made a “strong impression” on him.
Kentucky:
- 2011 forward Achraf Yacoubou, who visited Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness last weekend, has committed to Villanova.
- Kentucky also lost Kyrie Irving, another Big Blue Madness visitor, to Duke. Irving, one of the top point guards in the 2010 Class, gave his commitment to the Blue Devils on Thursday evening.
- A third Madness attendee, 2010 forward Tobias Harris, has announced that he will make his college commitment live on ESPNU on November 19
- 2010 forward C.J. Leslie skipped out on Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness invitation; was this because of his involvement with Brian Clifton (same issue John Wall is facing); My hunch: C.J. Leslie ends up in Lexington when all is said and done.
- Scott County’s Ge’lawn Guyn revealed to Jody Demling during the week that he in fact was not in attendance at Big Blue Madness. That was a false statement from an Indiana site on Twitter.
- ESPN is reporting today 2010 big man Adreian Payne is officially down to four schools: Kentucky, West Virginia. Arizona and Michigan State. Every recruiting analyst and source I know indicates that it is unofficially down to Kentucky vs. West Virginia – following the overwhelming disregard of NCAA rules during Payne’s official visit to Morgantown, don’t be surprised if Payne has been persuaded to be a Mountaineer
- 2010 combo guard Doron Lamb visited Kentucky’s “student only” practice today; he would be a nice get for the Cats and the thought of a Lamb/Bledsoe backcourt in 2010 is a great thought for Big Blue Nation
