Word is breaking everywhere that Jodie Meeks has decided this morning to stay in the NBA Draft. We will have much more later, but here is Jeff Goodman’s blog post on the subject:
Kentucky guard Jodie Meeks has decided to bypass his final season in college and will remain in the NBA Draft.
According to sources close to the situation, the 6-foot-4, 210-pound guard made the decision on Monday morning – hours prior to the deadline for underclassmen to withdraw from the June 25 NBA Draft.
Meeks’ return would have given Kentucky another major piece to a team that is still capable of competing for the national title this season.
Meeks averaged 23.7 points last season for Billy Gillispie.
John Calipari has also confirmed this on Twitter, I don’t think we need any more proof:
Jodie called..He’s keeping his name in the draft. He’s excited and I’m excited for him. I wish I got the chance to coach him.
