Dana O’Neil and Pat Forde of ESPN have separately confirmed through multiple sources, basically, that John Calipari and the University of Kentucky have batted eyes at one another. This is nothing surprising for we UK fans, who were about 8 hours ahead of ESPN on this, but it’s still good to see it written and spoken by a major media outlet.
Here is an excerpt from the original article:
Memphis coach John Calipari has taken a place on Kentucky’s radar in its search to replace Billy Gillispie, multiple sources told ESPN.com’s Dana O’Neil and Pat Forde.
On Friday, a source told O’Neil that Calipari ‘likely would not be interested’ in the job but on Sunday, multiple sources said Calipari is indeed interested. A source also said Kentucky was gathering information on Calipari over the weekend.
According to Memphis sports information director Lamar Chance, Kentucky officials have not contacted Memphis for permission to speak to Calipari.
Tomorrow morning I will be posting a bit of a weekend download anybody who wasn’t pressing the F5 button every 2 minutes on straitpinkie.com, as well as some new information about the coaching search, so stay tuned.

[...] then the infamous Calipari to UK Facebook group emerged and ESPN finally joined the party, reporting mutual interest between UK and Calipari. The latest word I have heard is that there have been no snags in the proceedings, but that a [...]
This will be very big. Every UK fan including me loves to see a fast tempo team and a team that have confidence shooting the three unlike the team we had this year. You don’t have to be able to shoot good to make more threes than being scare to shoot. Confidence will help you shoot better and that and aggressiveness is what Calipari takes to the team. Also I believe that Orton and Ferguson will decide to go ahead and stay if we get Calipari and I also believe Calipari is coming cause he knows he can persuade some of his recruits to come to Kentucky. Those prized recruits want to play for a good coach “Calipari” and a good team “Kentucky” It goes together!!! Come on DeMarcus Cousins, John Wall, and Xavier Henry!
