Both CJ and Xavier Henry were in New York City this weekend as Xavier was playing in the Jordan Brand Classic. Not ones to waste any recruiting opportunity, Kentucky coach John Calipari and Kansas coach Bill Self were in town as well to make final pitches to the Henry brothers:
Adding to the intrigue, both Kentucky coach John Calipari and Kansas coach Bill Self flew into New York to meet Saturday night with Xavier, C.J. Henry and Barbara Atkins at Xavier’s hotel. Henry was playing in the Jordan Brand Classic at Madison Square Garden. Calipari went first and Self second. No word yet on how the meetings went.
CJ Henry is a factor that I think is not being talked about enough. The kid is a big time athlete (1st round pick of the Yankees, Kansas basketball commitment out of high school), and has a standing relationship with Calipari. He played for him last year in Memphis. Not only could CJ help bring Xavier to Lexington, I think he could be a contributor by the time he finishes college.
Most people think that a decision from the Henry’s is forthcoming, possibly as soon as early this week. A visit to Lexington has been much talked about next weekend, but it’s unsure whether it will happen and I’m not sure if it even matters. Xavier and CJ could pick UK without even visiting and there’s a pretty good chance of that. Last night, Jimmy Dykes, who was announcing the Jordan Brand Classic, stopped short of saying it was a sure thing, but said it is “probable” that John Wall and Xavier Henry will come to UK.
News on this could be breaking soon, so we’ll keep you posted.

I don’t really see how you can even make this statement about CJ Henry when he has not been released from the university of memphis and it is against NCAA regulations for the coaching staff at the university of kentucky to speak with him. Also, there has yet to be a ruling from the NCAA on his eligibility next season if he is released and allowed to transfer. Check your sources
Both Xavier, who signed with Memphis in November, and C.J. Henry, a Memphis freshman walk-on, have officially been released from their letters-of-intent. Both KU and Kentucky have been sent the paperwork, so coaches from those schools can speak with Xavier and C.J., now and since the beginning of this month this has been the case.
