2010 NBA Lottery: Three Cats in Top 11?

By: Carl H | February 8th, 2010 | Category: Cats

Peter May, in a special to Yahoo! Sports, has penned his EARLY order for the upcoming (as in FIVE months from now) 2010 NBA draft. However, it is an interesting list, and at least one that could spark some healthy debate.

The Pinkie Squad had just this debate one night here recently (they all run together these days). There were a couple topics discussed that relate directly to UK: 1) If he continues at this pace will Demarcus Cousins go number one over Wall based solely on size/potential? and 2) Cole Aldrich vs. Demarcus Cousins.

May has Cousins going fourth and Aldrich sixth, definitely not a big enough gap to lend any more confidence to one members offer of a $100 wager on who would be drafted first.

Patrick Patterson is penciled in at May’s 11th slot. It seems to be a foregone conclusion that Kentucky will match Louisville’s T-Will and Earl Clark with two lottery selections, will they get three??

What do our six readers have to say about these hypotheticals?

  1. Patterson hits the lottery. You Kentucky fans are so delusional. He has only gotten worse this year, even if he was gonna be a lotto pick last year, the talent pool is deeper now and he has regressed. Welcome to the 2nd round PatPat!!

  2. Cole Aldrich! Nuff Said… I’ll take that $100 bet

  3. If you think Patterson has regressed, then you obviously only look at the box score. Patterson showed his first two years what he can do when he is THE guy the post. He put up big, efficient numbers. However, if he is ever on a team in the NBA where he is THE guy the post, that team is in trouble.

The role he has played this season is much more like the role he will play at the next level, and he has responded very, very well. He great attitude has remained and now he’s beginning to reassert himself on offense. Besides, he has shown himself to be a shutdown defender this year. He has guarded the 3, the 4, and the 5 with effectiveness. Oh yeah, he can shoot too.

    Patterson will go lotto.

  4. Patterson is top 14 for sure. His numbers have gone down, but the question of the past has been his size(too small) and his shooting ability. With his increased range from three this season he is proving to NBA scouts that he can play at the next level. He will never be a serious primetime player, but he will fit nicely in many systems that call for a combo forward to defend and knock down open jump shots. Cousins is so much further along than Aldrich on offense it’s not even funny. But defensively, Aldrich has the ability to alter the course of game, as he showed last night with 6 blocks against Texas. They were non-existent going to the rim until he fouled out. Cousins will however have a more successful NBA career though because scoring gets you paid. He’s a next Rasheed Wallace.

  5. Patterson sucks. Twill is 50times better plus Patterson can’t even dunk

  6. Neither can chuck hayes, but he’s quite productive if you ask me, even if he’s a 6-6 center.

  7. T-Will’s dunk was filthy tho.

  8. It’s pretty awesome that T-Will reads the Pinkie, comments on our posts, and also refers to himself in the third person.

  9. I know right
