The University of Louisville baseball team won its first two games in the Louisville Regional of the NCAA D-I baseball tournament.

Friday night UofL destroyed the Indiana Hoosiers 8-2 in front of a capacity crowd of 4,605, which broke the previous stadium record of 4,211 set on June 10th, 2007, when the Cardinals beat Oklahoma State to earn the program’s only trip to the College World Series.

Then on Saturday night, as Kenny Chesney was rockin’ Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, the Cards rallied from a 2-0 deficit to topple Middle Tennessee State 3-2 Saturday night and reach the championship round of the NCAA regional against Vanderbilt, who defeated Indiana and Middle Tennessee State to reach the final after dropping their first game to MTSU.

It was the 11th time this season that UofL won in its last at-bat.

Sunday the Cardinals fell behind early to the Commodores of Vanderbilt and never mounted a serious challenge, falling 8-4 and forcing the decisive game. It will be played tonight at 7pm ET to determine who advances to the Super Regional.
