Pitino and UofL have known what happened for a long time, and so has the media, it's just that it's gone unreported. For that reason, Pitino and UofL KNEW that this would eventually come out. It's impossible to expect anybody to keep quiet indefinitely.
Yesterday was on its way for a long time, I don't think it changes much in the eyes of UofL or Pitino. I think Pitino has had an idea of what his future holds as soon as he went to the FBI and I don't see any way he is not the coach at UofL next season. Every donor that means anything knew what was going on, there won't be much significant new pressure to resign. Since Jurich also knew this was going to come out, due to his past relationship with Pitino, he would have asked him to resign a couple months ago if Jurich knew he was going to fire him when the news became public.
I think this whole think likely shortens his tenure at UofL (I think the flirtations back in May with the NBA were serious), but I think he sticks around for a couple more years. The place where he really may be hurt by this news is on the recruiting trail, a place where Pitino had already lost some of his magic. That could end up being the reason why Pitino leaves down the road.
