Louisville started Louisville Trinity product Will Stein at quarterback and came out with a win over the Red Wolves from Arkansas State 21-13. The Cards played better than the score would suggest as kicker Ryan Payne missed two chip shot field goals and Stein could not complete a 6 yard pass to a wide open Trent Guy which would have gone for a touchdown to end the first half. However, the defense played well and even contributed a score with a Brandon Heath pick six in the 2nd quarter. The Cards rushed for over 170 yards on the day behind Bilal Powell and Darius Ashley, who continues to impress with each carry. Full recap to come later.
