Ben Gordon and Ray Allen are Sick

Anyone who thinks that the NBA sucks and refuses to even give the playoffs a chance, needs to seriously reconsider. Sure the regular season is too long and many can even argue that the playoffs are too long as well, the NBA Finals will not begin for another 45 days, or so. But, the Playoffs are incredibly exciting and if you love basketball, you will love the NBA Playoffs.
Last night’s battle between the Bulls and Celtics featured two former UConn Huskie 2-guards, who refused to let their team lose. Unfortunately for the Bulls, the Celtics got the ball last (yeah I know the Bulls got a 3/4-court heave) and Jesus Shuttlesworth worked his magic.
The game was ridiculous. Ben Gordon was absolutely en fuego and Kevin Harlan even referred to him as a “flame thrower”. He finished with 42 points on 14-of-24 shooting, 5-of-11 from deep. Time after time, the Bulls needed a bucket and Gordon was there. I am still trying to figure out why every previous Bulls’ head coach believed that he would be better suited off the bench.
After struggling through the first six quarters of the series, Ray Allen turned it on when it looked like the Celtics may be heading toward a 2-0 hole, heading to Chicago. He finished with 30 points and was 6-for-10 from deep, including the game-winner from the right-wing with Joakim Noah flying at him.
Oh yeah, and lost in the hype was Rajon Rondo’s triple-double. A game has to be good for a trip-dub to be forgotten. The former UK product finished with 19 points, 16 assists and 12 rebounds. He had the triple-double locked up at the end of the third quarter.
Seriously, give the NBA a chance. All of the action can be seen on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 and TNT. TNT is currently running their 40 Games in 40 Nights promotion so check it out. Even if you don’t like the NBA, you at least will enjoy Charles Barkley’s antics in the pre- and post-game shows. Here is Sir Charles trying to eat three pieces of bread in 25 seconds.
