Hear That Sound? 12/11/08

What up!!! A lot of people don’t know this about the real Bobby E; he wasn’t just a game show host, but for the better part of the 10 years post high school, Bobby E was one of the most popular disc jockeys in the state of California.  Also, for most of the 1960s, Bobby was a concert producer.  He was one of the, if not the, key players in bringing The Beatles to LA for their first west coast performance at the 1964 Hollywood Bowl.  He also worked with The Rolling Stones, Barry Manilow, The Supremes, Elton John, Merle Haggard, and countless other greats.

Point being Bobby’s got an ear for music.  So… from time to time I’m gonna let ya know what I’m bumpin’ on my 8-track, Ipod, or just my home stereo.  It could be an up-and-coming artist, or one that’s already established in the game and Bobby just likes to get down to!  Or it could be a slow-jam that gets ya in the mood to ‘Make some Whoopee!!’

The lyrical that stands out for me is as follows: (click below for the full lyrics)

I wake up late
Sometimes I wish I never woke up at all
And I contemplate
I guess maybe I’m better off alone
