The source of the Fab Melo madness and an update

I’ve been asked a lot today who was the source for the explosion of rumors regarding Fab Melo’s pending announcement of where he will play college basketball. The sole report regarding a Fab Melo announcement came from the twitter page of Matt McClusky, the host for Matt Mc’s Sports Fix, an ESPN radio show in New York (not NYC). McClusky tweeted Melo would commit to the Orange citing a source, whom he describes as a longtime friend of his, who apparently has inside knowledge of the Syracuse basketball program.
It looks like McClusky ran with this information a bit too soon and it also appears to me his source may not be someone with direct knowledge of the situation. All I know is, Louisville people are confident they will land Fab Melo (probably a little less sure today than they were last week).
Howie Lindsey of CardinalSports.com has been hearing Louisville for weeks and Jody Demling of the Courier-Journal has said Louisville as well. I’m sure Syracuse people feel they have a good chance as well, but the bottom line is we simply don’t know.

McClusky has now posted an update regarding the Fab Melo situation on his show’s website, here is the full text:
Fabricio De Melo – My source – who I will not say by name but is an old friend from my time living in Florida – is upset with me because I announced that it would be announced this morning. Evidently, and obviously, that was wrong, but my Insider says despite the delay an announcement will come. I, nor my source – I think I want to call ‘Southie’ or something else southern related (your thoughts?) – will back off of this news. Everyone just needs to be patient and the word from Fab’s mouth will come to us soon enough. More on this on the Sports Fix today at 4 p.m.
