Robinson close to committing to Cards?

Louisville Central wide receiver Stephan Robinson, a three star prospect and one of the top recruiting targets for Coach Steve Kragthorpe in the class of 2010, made a trip to Louisville’s campus on Monday. Robinson was there to view some of Louisville’s summer workouts and speak with the coaching staff. Robinson did an interview with CardinalSports.com, the Louisville rivals affiliate, and had some very interesting things to say.

When asked about the trip, Robinson said, “It was pretty fun, it just feels like it’s my home when I visit there.” Robinson also spoke with essentially every member of the offensive coaching staff, including Coach Kragthorpe, and admitted he did talk about committing.

On the subject of possibly committing, Robinson said, “I feel that I will probably commit before I go back to school. Louisville is at the top because I can come there and play as soon as possible. They like me as a person and I feel comfortable around them. My father likes them also.”

Could he be the first of two Louisville commitments from Central high school?

Stephan Robinson is a 5-9, 165 lb wide receiver who is also being recruited heavily by Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, and Western Kentucky. As a junior at Central high school, he caught 35 passes for 754 yards and 11 TDs. He is being recruited to play the slot position for the Cardinals.

I’ve mentioned on here many times the necessity for Kragthorpe to secure a commitment from this kid. Robinson is a hometown kid from only a couple miles away from Louisville’s campus, literally. On top of that, he’s really good. He would be a huge get for the Louisville program and would definitely go a long way towards determining Coach Kragthorpe’s job status.
