Rick Pitino Press Conference Summary

If you missed the Rick Pitino press conference, you didn’t miss much. Rick basically just blasted the media for airing what he calls “lies” in the form of the Karen Sypher interview. He was disappointed that on the day that Ted Kennedy died and the economy in the state that it’s in, that the media outlets are more concerned about airing the lies of Karen Sypher.
He said the truth will come out in the trial and that she will be exposed. Pitino also said that if you are a Cardinal fan and a Pitino supporter, you should turn the channel when you see the “lies” and turn the page in the newspaper when the “lies” are printed.
Pitino also said that this has not hurt recruiting and that he will continue to bring in top 10 players. He said Louisville is a top 10 program and will continue to be. He said he looks forward to putting this all behind him and focusing on more important things.
After seeing the press conference, it was clear that Rick was very angry with the media. He is fed up with all the talk of this case and just wants the trial to come so everyone can see that Karen Sypher is full of crap.
I don’t blame Rick for the way he feels. He was 100% right in everything he said today. The media is airing the Karen Sypher tapes and all it says is what we already know. She claims she raped him, she’s the victim, etc….
It’s all a bunch of BS and we continue to get pounded with it. This woman is an absolute mess and is just looking to make some money off of this fiasco. Enough already, let’s get this thing to trial and move on to making final four’s and beating Kentucky.
Guy’s Take
The whole thing just seemed so impulsive. I have a visual of him having a TV on in his office during the 12 pm news and seeing all the talk about Karen Sypher and just saying ‘this is ridiculous, I’m having a press conference.’
It took him a little while to convince (or pester) media relations that it was a good idea, then an hour and a half later he was ranting away. Was it really worth that 90 minute period where every UofL fan was checking his/her pulse wondering if this was a resignation presser?

Yeah, I feel so sorry for Pitino and the way the media has aired his dirty laundry. Too bad he can’t pay them all three grand to go away, that seems to be his MO. I may be in hell for that one, but the fact remains that although the bitch is batshit crazy, the media is just sensationalizing like they do on every story. He’s not getting singled out or anything of the sort. If he wants to be the face of the program, you have to be ready to stand by the fire when it gets hot.
