Coaching Update: TCU’s Patterson to Sign Extension

It appears we can cross one name off the list of potential candidates to be the next football coach for the Cards. TCU football coach Gary Patterson has agreed to a long-term extension to remain at TCU. According to an article on ESPNDallas.com, Patterson and the school reached an agreement today and it will be officially announced tomorrow.
It was never clear how much interest Tom Jurich may have had in Patterson, although I am told there was some. The most compelling evidence (if that’s what you want to call it) linking Patterson to Louisville was a tweet from ESPN college football writer Joe Schad. Schad stated Louisville was interested in talking to Patterson, according his sources.
Whether or not there ever was interest, I do not think Patterson was ever at the top of Louisville’s list and do not think it will hinder their search. I still believe Charlie Strong and Kevin Sumlin top the list.
