Did Fowler break some news today?

ESPN College Football Gameday host Chris Fowler can be added to the list of media members who believe Florida defensive coordinator Charlie Strong will become the next head coach of the Louisville football Cardinals. This morning, on air, Fowler uttered this phrase, “There’s going to be some high profile defensive coordinator positions open, right? Georgia needs one. Florida will need one because Charlie Strong is going to go to Louisville and be head coach.”

Fowler continued on and named Notre Dame and Florida State, but what was interesting was how matter of fact Fowler was with his statement. He did not pose it as a question, or even a possibility, and was not corrected by his fellow Gameday broadcasters.

All that said, does this really mean anything substantial? Probably not, but I do think it is a telling statement, if for nothing else it demonstrates the fact many, many people feel Charlie Strong will be heading here to coach the Cards. We will obviously be tracking this story as we could be within 24 hours of starting to see some real movement on the Louisville football coaching front. Stay tuned to the Pinkie for updates.
