UofL had a great group of three top 2011 prospects on campus this past weekend for an unofficial visit. Marquis Teague, Wayne Blackshear, and Mike Shaw have gotten the most attention of this group, but fellow visitor Zach Price has beaten them to the punch in committing to play for Rick Pitino and the Cards.

According to Jody Demling of the Courier-Journal and Evan Daniels of Scout.com, the #38 player in the class of 2011 has chosen to end his recruitment and will play for the Louisville Cardinals.

Price is 6-10 210 lbs and plays for St. Edward HS in Lakewood, OH. Price was receiving national interest prior to his commitment, with the bulk coming from the Big 10. He had offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Wake Forest.

Price becomes Rick Pitino’s second top 40 commitment in the class, along with #13 center Michael Chandler. You would think that Rick Pitino sees these two as complimentary players who can readily play at the same time.

There has been quite a bit of concern over the impact of Rick Pitino’s recent personal troubles on his ability to recruit upper echelon talent, but if the way that UofL’s 2011 is taking shape, those concerns appear to be unfounded. UofL has those two top commits already and are said to be in good standing with Teague, Blackshear, and Shaw. Commitments from those 5 would make UofL the clear leader in the clubhouse for the number one spot in 2011 recruiting class rankings.
