Updates on Kyrie Irving, Tobias Harris, Justin Martin

It’s that time of year where the top rising seniors in the country start cutting their lists and scheduling visits, and today news has come out about three UK recruits doing just that.
UK has made the final 6 of third ranked point guard Kyrie Irving, along with IU, Duke, Seton Hall, Georgia Tech, and UConn.

Indiana and Duke still have the inside track due to a lot of time spent watching his games this summer. However, the fact that UK is in the final 6 means that UK stands a solid chance of scoring an official visit. If that happens and Irving watches as point guards John Wall and Eric Bledsoe thrive in Calipari’s offense, anything could happen.
One of the hottest names in the game this summer has been power forward Tobias Harris. Harris made an unofficial visit to UK in recent weeks and last night announced that he has “cut” his list to 10 schools. Not a huge cut here, but UK did make it and will get an in home visit with the Harris family. This is good news, because UK has some ground to make up on schools like Syracuse, St. Johns’, and West Virginia that have been all over him even before his meteoric rise this summer.
Finally, a note on Justin Martin. Martin is a former UofL commitment who opened things up in late May. He is an ex-teammate of erstwhile UK commit Dominique Ferguson in Indianapolis and is a 4 star player, 17th ranked among small forwards.
We really haven’t spoken much about him as an option for UK since his decommitment, but according to the Indianapolis Star, UK is firmly in the mix. Martin told the Star that he plans to take official visits to Kentucky, Marquette, and Xavier. He does not yet have an offer from UK, but the staff is in contact.

[...] Tobias Harris was Lamb’s teammate. He scored 20 points to share MVP honors. Check out my post yesterday with an update on Harris. [...]
Thanks for the updates. UK is in the mis with Kyrie because of Coach Cal and the fact that Rod Strickland is his godfather has to have some influence.
As for Harris, he did more for his rep than anyone this summer. He made the quickest rise up the national lists. UK is fortunate to be involved and if they snag, will have a major-league talent.

You’re exactly right about Tobias. He’s all the way up to #5 in the latest Rivals rankings. Big, big time player.
