 UK football suspends two players

UK announced today that two players that are projected to contribute this season have been suspended.

Starting center Jorge Gonzalez will be held out of the season opener against Miami (OH). Jorge is a rising senior that started every game last season. He is one of UK’s most experienced and most talented lineman and his absence, albeit short, creates a hole.

Sophomore wide receiver Aaron Boyd came in last season as a highly rated freshman from Henry Clay High School in Lexington, but failed to make any meaningful impact. As Boyd failed to break into the rotation last season, he was unable to maintain a positive attitude, which buried him in the depth chart further.  I’m sure the staff is still optimistic he can turn things around, but his career at UK is not off to a good start.

UK said only that the suspensions came as a result of a violation of team rules.
