UK Basketball Recruiting Update

It’s a bit difficult for me to thing about recruiting during the basketball season, especially when we have so much to be excited about on the court. However, it’s been a while since we’ve done a rundown of UK’s remaining 2010 targets, so I think we owe you an update:
Doron Lamb – Doron had targeted a fall decision with a spring signing, but he announced this month that he would postpone his commitment until spring. He was in Kentucky for the Marshall County Hoopfest and John Calipari stopped by to watch him play. Doron responded and dropped a triple double with no turnovers.
Lamb has said his favorites are Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Kansas, but Arizona, West Virginia, and Connecticut are also involved.
Josh Selby – Selby is well aware of Lamb’s recruitment, and his mother Maeshon Witherspoon says he is open to playing with him: “Josh is not afraid to play against or with anybody.” Witherspoon said. “They respect each other’s game… Doron would be a complementary. They both can play with the ball and both can play off the ball. When you have two people who respect each other’s games, who knows?”
Selby cut his list to UK, Kansas, Syracuse, and Indiana, but Arizona has gotten involved. Selby will visit Arizona with Lamb next month.
Brandon Knight – Knight will also wait until spring. No one can really get a good read on his favorite, but I believe UK will be involved up until the end…especially as Knight watches John Wall dominate college basketball. Knight has UK, UConn, Kansas, Florida, Miami, and Syracuse on his list.
Terrence Jones – Jones announced in November that he would also decide in the spring. The Oregon forward will decide between UK, Washington, Oregon, UCLA, and Oklahoma. Washington was in good position with Jones, but Lorenzo Romar scored a commitment from Turkish import Enes Kanter, which may alter Jones’ thought process.
CJ Leslie – You guessed it, another spring decision. North Carolina State and Kentucky are the first schools that are mentioned in his recruitment, but other schools continually jump in. In the end, I believe John Wall’s former high school teammate will be a ‘Cat.
Those are the six names on John Calipari’s wish list right now, but as the high school season progresses, you can be assured that other names will pop up. Also, do not forget about former Florida forward Eloy Vargas, who is currently playing at Miami-Dade College, Darnell Dodson’s former home. If he does what he needs to this season, he could easily pop back up on Cal’s wish list.
