Spring Football Update

hartline31 Spring Football Update

The Cats continue spring practice, however all practices from now on are closed to the public and media.  Based on reports and the last scrimmage, Mike Hartline is creating separation in the quarterback race.  It also appears Morgan Newton could be a little frustrated (based on his comments).  Hopefully Joker names the starting quarterback after the blue and white game.

Some other players who are making a big impression this spring are Chandler Burden, Mark Crawford, Justin Henderson, Jarvis Walker and Brian Adams.  It appears Burden might push for the starting left tackle role.  He needs more reps, but so far the staff seems to be impressed.  Joker continues to sing Mark Crawford’s praises saying he is playing with “juice”.  Based on some feedback I have received from people attending practice, the staff really likes Justin Henderson and Jarvis Walker.  Remember, Henderson played at a high school that turns out top defensive ends (look at Clemson) and is showing his ability already this spring.  Walker has a year in the program and based on reports could be one of the biggest surprises this spring.  How can anyone not be happy for Brian Adams?  This kid couldn’t play last year becuase of a blood clot and now is he making plays on the football field (and the diamond for you baseball fans).  Some people suggest Adams is the fastest receiver on the team and ahead of E.J. Fields and Aaron Boyd already on the depth chart.
