Some media members point to Former Wildcat Travis Ford for UK job

Count Dave Baker and Pat Forde among those who believe Travis Ford will be the next head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats. He was on 790AM this morning and suggested that was the direction UK would end up heading.

As I said earlier, this could very easily be a playaction fake on UK’s part. They did not enjoy that information on Gillispie being fired getting reported last night, and I’m sure they have no intention of seeing a repeat performance with announcement of UK’s hiring decision.

Some (including people with Florida Athletics)  have also come out saying that Billy Donovan being in Lexington last night is 100% false. It does seem like a bit of a stretch to think he would stay in a downtown hotel in the midst of all this craziness, so I really don’t know what to believe. 

What makes me believe the Donovan thing is still in progress is the general quiet from Donovan and Florida. If there were no truth to this, you have to think they would have refuted these rumors, right? That’s what I’m choosing to believe anyway.

One more quick note: word from UK’s campus is that a group of students (and by “a group”, I mean four) are awake this morning from a rough Thursday night, and they are staging a protest in favor of Billy Gillispie on Euclid. Clearly he’s not exactly a beloved Bluegrass figure.

I don’t think I need to tell you to stay tuned. We’re trying to ride out some server issues because everybody is so hungry for news, but we’ll be updating continuously with anything we hear.
