Your analogy holds some water, but I think John Wall is just a bit different that Derrick Rose. Cal fought with Rose all season long to get him to be the alpha dog and he never was able to put it together and dominate the way Wall is doing now until the Tournament itself. Wall isn't the least bit afraid to take the big shot and hit the big free throws, nor is Eric Bledsoe.
.
Also, this team is already showing signs of catching up to Wall and they will only get better as the season goes on.

Is it me or does this team look alot like the 38-1 2008 Memphis team. Blow through the season on the back of 1 dominating freshmen guard, Then lose to the Kansas Jayhawks who again this year can go 8-10 deep.

[...] Straitpinkie wonders if we should be worried that UK is unbeaten: “I think Cal is legitimately worried that if UK keeps winning games against quality opponents like this, that they will never gain the perspective necessary to realize their full potential. The idea was for UK to jell as team before conference play and take a couple blows the mouth, peaking in February and March. Miami, Stanford, UNC, and UConn dished out a couple would be knockout blows, but to this point, UK has been able to absorb each and every one.” [...]

I think we'll take a loss yet. When we start SEC play it's Georgia, then down to Gainesville. Luckily we'll host the Gators on Senior night. But, we also have to go to Thompson-Blowing Arena. Both of those games will be hard to win if we haven't worked out the kinks for March play. They'll be learning experiences. Don't forget about Ole Miss and Vandy.

I hope, even if we go undefeated (no way) that Cal can ingrain what he needs to in this young team to take us into April.
