The reason why the Big Ten appears so many times in the top 25 is because the Big Ten is one of if not THE greatest basketball conference in the sport’s history. The teams you find in the top 25 from the big ten, including Iowa, have been good for a long time. This ranking awards consistency and longevity. Michigan State is not in the top ten because besides two years in the 1970s, half of the 1990s, and most of the 2000s, Michigan State has been very inconsistent. I also see that someone mentioned U Conn, but U Conn was Nothing before 1995. Georgetown was nothing before 1980, Duke was nothing before the late 1970s, etc. That’s why a lot of big name, eye candy programs are not on this list. Sagarin OBJECTIVELY ranks all teams throughout their ENITIRE history, there is no room for short term memory or bias. As an Illinois fan, I like the list, but I do think that more points should be added for tournament wins and championships, with elite eight wins counting more than sweet sixteen wins and final four wins counting more than eilite 8 wins and Championships should count for at least 10-15 points.

By anyway, go Illini. Number six all time. WE WILL win a championship in the next five years and then we will definately deserve the top ten spot.

Also, did anyone notice what time of year it is? This kind of enthusiasm and excitement is what Kentucky basketball and it’s ardent fanbase bring to the table year after year, all year round. That excitement pays bills. It pays your bills Mr. Forde. It once paid Billy Packers’ bills too, until he let his personal feelings taint his professional reputation.

It’s gonna be a great year at Kentucky….again.
