Reports: Eric Bledsoe to visit UK this weekend; John Wall update

Eric Bledsoe may have decided that being a “second round pick” isn’t so bad after all, so long as you really like the team that’s picking you.
Marc Maggard, among others, is reporting that Bledsoe is going to make up for the visit he skipped the weekend of the Derby Festival Classic, and come to Lexington this weekend. These reports also say that Bledsoe is VERY interested in UK in spite of the fact that John Wall is a clear priority over him.
Bledsoe’s eligibility issues persist, but the fact of the matter is that a STUD point guard is interested in coming to UK even though UK is on the short list for an even better one already. Times have certainly changed in Big Blue Nation. Even if Bledsoe fails to qualify, he could spend a year in prep school, then come to UK once his academic affairs are in order, quite possibly taking the reins from a one and done John Wall.
On the subject of Wall, I am more confident today that he is favoring UK. Bomani Jones was on the radio today and he said he spoke to Brian Clifton last night. Jones guessed that Wall’s list would be cut to four this week: UK, Duke, Florida, and Miami. Jones also went on to say that he thinks Wall will eventually follow John Calipari to Kentucky.
If you’re surprised to see that Miami is still in play, don’t be. Wall really enjoyed his Miami visit. The scenery on South Beach was beautiful I’m sure, and I’m not talking about the view of the ocean. Miami was a bit of an afterthought until this weekend, but Shandel Richardson of the Miami Sun Sentinel believes Miami is firmly in the mix and could very well end up in Wall’s “top two”.
Finally, I haven’t yet made any mention of Twitter and John Calipari, mainly because I held out for as long as I could before acknowledging the existence of Twitter. Seriously, have you ever seen anything emerge so quickly as a buzzword. It’s fascinating.
I just joined on Sunday, and I’m now following John Calipari, our friend John Clay, Straitpinkie, CNN Breaking News, and the Chicago Cubs. I am yet to actually update my own status because I don’t think anyone would care, but I have to say, I’m enjoying it. The text updates are great, partially because it’s good information and partially because I seem cooler because I get more text messages.
I suggest it, if only to support John Calipari in his battle for followers with IU coach Tom Crean. In case you were wondering, Calipari just topped 12,000. Coach Cal just Tweeted (the only bad part about Twitter is the cringe-worthy terminology) while I was writing this, saying:
Just got back to Lex. Gonna get a workout in and maybe powerwalk our beautiful campus. My good friend Rick Corman told me I have a belly…
and then,
…I’ve gained seven pounds during these last three weeks out recruiting. So I need to start working it off.
These kind of updates are exactly why I enjoy it so much. Rick Corman is the man who flies Calipari all over the place on his private plane (that is untracked on FlightAware) and private airstrip, and I think it’s hilarious that he makes fun of Calipari for fattening up while he’s working his butt of trying to put together a contender at UK.
As a UK fan, I can never have enough information (I’m not alone on that), and Calipari realizes this. He’s got a platform as the UK coach and he’s going to use it.
