Report: Arkansas’ Courtney Fortson suspended indefinitely

“Arkansas freshman guard Courtney Fortson has been suspended indefinitely by coach John Pelphrey.

Pelphrey was unclear on the reasoning, but said it had to do with discipline and said it wasn’t an isolated incident. Again, Pelphrey wasn’t specific and dodged a few questions concerning the issue, including whether the suspension directly stremmed from Fortson’s technical foul last night for arguing a call with a ref against Auburn.”

KBJYDAFMPBILWEF.20081107033137 Report: Arkansas Courtney Fortson suspended indefinitely

This is obviously really big news with UK traveling to Arkansas on Saturday. Fortson, the former UK recruiting target, has been the best freshman in the SEC all season may be even more important to his team than Patrick Patterson, who, according to initial reports, seems likely to miss the game on Saturday as well.

He’s the Razorbacks main playmaker, averaging 14.6 points, 6.5 assists, and 5.3 rebounds. I’ve seen a few Arkansas games, and with Fortson is out of games, Arkansas’ offense has a tendency to stall. UK’s lack of defensive quickness on the perimeter is well documented and I think Fortson would have terrorized UK much like Nick Calathes did.

Wink and I are switching places for this game, so I will be posting a full preview with much more on this later tonight.

I can’t believe Corey Fortson would let this happen especially when his team is doing so awful. This is what I been saying along this season. These players do not understand what it means to be Arkansas Razorbacks and the tradition of Razorback Basketball Program and what it means to Hog fans.
Coach Sutton and Coach Richardson recruited these types of players. When ever they put on the Razorback jersey they gave 110% of themselves.
Coach Sutton and Coach Richardson had players who were freshmen and these freshmen won ball games. Believe it or not I like Coach Pelphrey as a coach, but I not so sure about some of his players.
