Patterson dealing with finger injury

I noticed that Patrick Patterson had his two middle fingers taped together on his right hand in UK’s win Saturday over Vandy, but I did not think much of it.  Players jam their fingers all the time and play through it.

However, on the Billy Gillispie Show last night, Coach Gillispie, when talking about Patterson’s lackluster game against the ‘Dores, placed some of the blame for Patterson’s off game on the fact that he is “dealing with some ligament damage in his fingers”.  The latest news today is that Patterson hurt both fingers in practice leading up to the Vandy game, and they were taped together due to swelling.

It doesn’t sound like anything Patterson won’t be able to play through, but we’ll keep you updated.

***UPDATE***Here’s what Coach Gillispie has to say about the injury: “I don’t know when he did it. I think he had a strained tendon. He has been icing it a lot. I don’t think it will be anything terrible. It has not been bothering him a lot, but hopefully it is getting better.”  Doesn’t sound like anything to worry about.
