Parrish Confirms Galloway and Pilgrim Will Not Be Back At UK

Kentucky is now back down to the scholarship limit of 13 (assuming Meeks is going to withdraw his name from the NBA Draft). Gary Parrish of CBSSports confirmed that Kevin Galloway and Matt Pilgrim will not return to Kentucky next season.

The following is UK’s roster of scholarship players (if Meeks withdraws from the draft):

1. Jodie Meeks
2. Patrick Patterson
3. Perry Stevenson
4. Ramon Harris
5. Darius Miller
6. DeAndre Liggins
7. Josh Harrellson
8. John Wall
9. DeMarcus Cousins
10. Daniel Orton
11. Darnell Dodson
12. Jon Hood
13. Eric Bledsoe

On that roster is the likely No. 1 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft (Wall), two other probable lottery picks (Cousins and Patterson) and a totally separate player who is expected to be a consensus first-team All-American (Meeks). Combine that with what should arguably be the best bench in the country, and you can see why Kentucky should be the nation’s preseason No. 1 team.

Coach Cal has cleared em out, now if the newcomers are just capable of hitting free throws…….

Congratulations John Calipari. While you single handedly left two final four programs (UMass, Memphis) in complete disfunction and disarray with questions of NCAA violations and complete neglect, and somehow pleading you knew nothing about it, you have built another final four team by tossing several scholarship players to the wayside, and getting a another questionable character point guard, and a couple of one and dones, to try and bury another school in a pile of question marks for the sake of the elusive ring. You are a complete douchebag, and I hope beyond hope you crash and burn!!

SK, you must be a filthy card fan so deep in denial of what coach Cal is about to accomplish at the University of Kentucky. In my opinion, Cal is innocent until proven guilty and all this hate is out there just b/c UK is on top, once again. Although, i do admit being a UK fan, it must be hard to be a UL fan. Always looking up at big brother, seeing all our accomplishments when your program has done so little, comparatively speaking. You sir, are a douchebag, and i hope beyond hope (whatever that means) you crash and burn!!!

  3. You need a reality check says:

Selfb00001 you can say as much as you want that Calipari is innocent until proven guilty, but there is a stain on his reputation as a coach between the accusations at Memphis, the issues at UMass, his alleged involvement with handlers like William Wesley, and his poor coaching in clutch situations (2008 Final Four, etc.). I really do feel that UK will eventually be in the same situation that Memphis currently finds itself in and what UMass had to deal with. It will be a fun ride for UK, but if you don’t win it this year, when will you? Yes you have a great recruiting class coming in with Wall, Orton and Cousins. They are freshman, they are freshman playing in the SEC game in and game out and then having to deal with the NCAA tournament. Also, after this year, you will lose Wall, Cousins, Meeks, and Patterson if not more due to academics and suspensions which have plagued Calipari in the past. You don’t reload like this every year. I think UK fans have let this go to their heads a little much and a little too soon. Look at the growing pains that Memphis went through this year with just a new PG. How will UK deal with the installing of a whole new offense with basically 3 freshman on the court at once? Like I have said before, Calipari gets to face UT, Florida, and many other SEC schools twice unlike his time at Memphis. A junk, match up or sagging zone gets thrown at Cal and he has folded numerous times (UT twice, kansas, uab, should have lost to USC when they played against mayo in MSG).

Also, to Guy, I apologize about how my last post came off. Didn’t mean for it to sound like I posted it so my apologies

Ok, you are taking this way too seriously. I was just messin’ around. We’ll just see what happens. By the way, it is way too hard to convey tone while texting or writing on message boards.

  5. Guy says:

I appreciate the apology, reality check.
I’m going to just leave the Calipari reputation issue alone in this forum. It’s not worth addressing because UK fans are dead set in the way they look at and non-UK fans are the same way. Those opinions aren’t changing so I’m not going to rehash them.
I will address expectations for next year, which reality check touched on. We as UK fans should not expect things to fall into place next season as nicely as this recruiting class has. It’s a valid point that a freshman point guard will have to step in and lead a very young, though talented team, and that growing pains will be associated with that. I don’t think that John Wall will have the same kinds of growing pains that Tyreke Evans had last year, though, simply because Wall is a true point and Evans is not. They didn’t even give Evans the PG job until late in the season, which will not be the case with Wall. The issue will be getting all the talent on the roster to mesh nicely. Calipari has managed egos in the past, and he has some really good veteran presence to help out in Patterson, Harris, and Meeks (maybe/hopefully). UK will lose games early, but not a bunch, and by the end of the season, I think UK will be the class of the SEC and making a case for a very high seed come March. If we’re looking for things to happen instantly, you need to temper expectations (maybe even a reality check).
